Concertina coil

Galvanised razor wire coils for compound walls, factories and secure perimeters.

In shortConcertina coil, also called razor wire coil, is high-tensile galvanised steel wire clad with sharp punched blades and formed into spring-like loops that stretch out along a wall or fence. It is hard to climb or cut through. Nitin Wire Group makes it with a 2.6 mm core wire and 0.5 mm blades in four coil diameters from 460 mm to 1,050 mm, each covering about 6 m.

Why choose it

What makes it work

  • High-tensile core

A galvanised high-tensile steel core keeps the coil springy and hard to cut.

  • Razor-sharp blades

Punched blades give a strong visual and physical deterrent.

  • Anti-climb, anti-cut

The coiled blade mass is difficult to climb over or cut through.

  • Rust-resistant

Zinc-coated blades and wire suit permanent outdoor installation.

  • Easy to install

Fits on walls, fences and open boundaries, as a permanent or temporary barrier.

FAQ

Concertina Coil: questions buyers ask

Which size concertina coil is best for a compound wall?

For the top of a typical compound wall, a 460 mm (1.5 ft) or 610 mm (2 ft) coil is usually enough and keeps weight down. The larger 950 mm and 1,050 mm coils suit factory perimeters, open boundaries and ground-level barriers where a bigger obstacle is needed.

How many concertina coils do I need?

Each Nitin concertina coil covers about 6 metres when stretched, so divide the length of your wall or fence by 6 and round up. A 120 m boundary needs 20 coils for a single row. Add more for a double row or a stacked arrangement on open ground.

How is concertina coil installed on a compound wall?

Concertina coil is usually fixed on top of a wall with Y-shaped or straight angle brackets anchored into the wall, with tension wires run along the brackets. The coil is stretched out along the wires and tied with clips or binding wire at regular intervals so it holds its shape.

What is the difference between concertina coil and barbed wire?

Barbed wire is straight twisted wire with small barbs, strung in lines between posts. Concertina coil is a looped coil of wire covered in razor blades, which forms a bulky three-dimensional barrier that is far harder to climb or cut. Concertina is used where security matters more than cost.

Does concertina coil rust?

Nitin's concertina coil uses zinc-coated blades and galvanised core wire, which resist rust in normal outdoor conditions. Near the sea or in industrial air any galvanised product weathers faster, so inspect the coil periodically and replace damaged sections.
