What type of fencing is used for solar power plants?
Solar plants in India are usually fenced with galvanised chainlink on GI or concrete posts, with barbed wire or concertina coil on top. The fence keeps out trespassers and grazing animals while letting wind pass through. Plants near the coast need heavier galvanising or a PVC coating.
Why does wind farm fencing need to be galvanised?
Many wind farms sit on the coast or on exposed high ground, where salt and moisture rust bare steel quickly. Hot-dip galvanising coats wire and posts with zinc that protects the steel, so the fence lasts longer with little maintenance.
How do you fence a substation or transformer yard?
A substation is normally enclosed by its own higher-security fence of chainlink or welded mesh, topped with concertina coil or barbed wire, with locked gates and warning signs. Follow your utility's electrical safety rules for clearances from live equipment.
