Wall Spikes: questions buyers ask
How are wall spikes fixed on a compound wall?
Metal wall spikes are usually screwed or bolted to the top of the wall with anchors, or set into fresh mortar along the coping. Lighter plastic spikes for ledges can be screwed down or fixed with outdoor adhesive. Keep the run continuous so there are no gaps to grip.
GI or plastic wall spikes: which should I choose?
Choose GI spikes for security on compound walls and gates, where strength and a strong deterrent matter. Plastic spikes are lighter and suit bird control on ledges, window sills and signboards. Nitin supplies both variants.
Do bird spikes harm birds?
No. Bird spikes stop birds landing and roosting by leaving no flat surface to stand on; they are not meant to pierce or injure. They are a humane way to prevent droppings, which are acidic, stain buildings and can carry infections.
Are wall spikes enough to secure a house?
Wall spikes make a compound wall harder to climb and are a good first layer for homes. For higher-risk sites, combine them with concertina coil or a fence above the wall, plus lighting and a secure gate.
Will galvanised wall spikes rust?
Nitin's metal wall spikes are hot-dip galvanised, which protects the steel from rust outdoors, and powder coating can be added for extra protection and colour. In coastal areas, choose the powder-coated option and inspect fixings periodically.
